Hunting Season

We hunt throughout the year, however, the best time in South Africa is to end of October. The climate is mild during this period, temperatures range from 28 degree Celsius (82.4 Fahrenheit) midday to about 9 degrees Celsius (48.2 Fahrenheit) at night.

Hunting Methods

We support the fair chase principle of hunting, which lends itself to some excellent challenges to the discerning hunter.

Bowhunting

Bowhunting is a  very challenging and rewarding method in many different ways of hunting depending on the type of game that you wish to hunt. The hunter will at all times be accompanied by a Professional Hunter who is actively involved in the sport of bowhunting.  It is essential that on the more dangerous or bigger animals, for the bow hunter to be experienced and the right equipment must be used for success in landing your target.

Grootpan Game Ranch provides clients with exceptional bow hunting opportunities. Two hunting methods are provided. The use of conventional hides/blinds or walking and stalking, the choice is completely up to the client.

Hunting from Blinds

We offer the patient hunter the opportunity to experience the African bush in the comfort of a functionally designed hide. Our hides provide maximum opportunity of getting your ideal trophy, and also to enable you to acquire the perfect line for your arrow. The hides provide an 180 degree view around the near vicinity of the blind, which enables the hunter to observe the superb species of the African Bushveld in their natural surroundings. Most of our trophies are hunted from blinds.

Walk and Stalk

Grootpan Game Ranch also offers our more adventurous clients the opportunity to experience the thrill of walking and stalking. The excitement, adrenalin and satisfaction of hunting on foot in Africa is an unforgettable experience. Walking through the bush while stalking game will allow you to experience the wonderfully unique fauna and flora found on the ranch. The abundance of bird life in the region will further ensure added pleasure.

Professional Staff

Grootpan Game Ranch is professionally set up with a slaughtery and professional staff to take care of the preperation of trophys for our clients and can recommend experienced professional Taxidermists to prepare your trophy for export.
