I have met Hein and his lovely wife Yvette, when they accompanied a client on a buffalo hunt some time ago at friend’s game farm. It was there and then that I decided to plan my next hunting trip around them after I seen how professional they treat their clients. So I planned my first Bow hunting trip to his farm, Grootpan Hunting Safaris during the onset of the winter hunting season in May 2011. It was with great anticipation that we counted them days until our trip – Little did I know it will be the trip of a lifetime! When we arrived at the farm, the accommodation and the setting of the hides were of very high standard and with Yvette providing a 5 star evening meal next to a bushveld fire – the scene was set!! . I woke up with some coffee and rusks at the break of dawn and after I have collected and checked my equipment, I was off to the hide! As the sun was rising there was a steady flow of game to the watering hole and I had numerous opportunities to pick off any animal, but I waited for the “special one”! I did not have to wait long! Barely an hour into our wait at the hide, along came a huge Roland Ward Trophy Red Hartebeest bull. It took a perfect directed arrow straight to the vital organs to bring down the “Harley Davidson”. Sometimes nicknamed the “Harley Davidson” of the antelope tribe, because of the configuration of his horns, this “Red Hartebeest” is truly a strange looking creature. With its horns measuring in at 24 inches!!! The dust has not even settled and I was back in the hide………. Can this get better!!!! Perfect shot…perfect “Harley Davidson”…….. What better can a first time Bow hunter expect? Not even an hour into the next session in the hide, “lady luck” smiled on me, the BIGGEST Kudu bull strolled casually to the waterhole! As it started to drink, I lined up the bow and took the shot; it jumped straight over the watering hole as the arrow hits its mark! What excitement! The magnificent animal was the biggest to date at the farm; it came in a whopper 56 7/8 inches! Another Rowland Ward trophy!!!! They might call it beginner luck, but during the whole weekend of hunting and game drives, I saw so many big animals and I knew my record will be broken very soon! I can recommend Hein’s outfit for sure. Feel free to mail me with any further info or advice. Llewellyn

My farther and I visited the African continent for the hunting safari second time. Our first visit to Namibia was successful, but unfortunately we were unable to take trophy kudu.Heinrich promised good trophy kudu and other large antelope and his company has fulfilled this promise 110%. We added to our hunting collection two great trophy Nyala, kudu, eland impala, waterbuck , zebra, wildebeest and redhartbeest. Hunting conditions were heavy, high grass and lots of leaves on trees, but our PH Sias and trackers have done their best. In our country we dont have good hunting service and it was nice to have a good rest in hunting lodge and deliciose meals during hunting. This is our African safari we will remember always . Once again thank thenGrootpan team. If you have any questions we will be happy to answer them. Sergey and Alexandr Yakshin, Astana City, Kasakshstan

My wife and I hunted with Grootpan in September of 2009, and what a fantastic experience it was. Everything was well planned, the meals, accomodations, services, excursions, everything. I bagged Greater Kudu, Gemsbuck, Zebra, Warthog, Jackal, and there is a fantastic story and memory with each game animal hunted.

I interviewed, with my wife (her comment is below), 54 outfitters at the 2009 Eastern Sports Show, and easily picked Hein and Yvette from that group. His response to my questions were timely and thorough. I liked the "spot and stalk" hunting style.

All of the meals are fantastic and you will not go hungry (I gained 15lbs in 13days). The accomodations are exceptional and private.

The excursions that they suggested we consider during our trip were also first rate. Even when our balloon ride was cancelled due to higher than acceptable winds, the day was not lost and accomodations were made to visit other attractions in the area.

It is truly the first vacation I have been on, that I could have stayed another 13days.

Feel free to contact me regarding anything to do with your African Adventure with Grootpan Safari's

All I can say is thanks for making this the hunt of a life time. My two sons can’t wait to get back. We shot seven species in ten days where every day was a new adventure. The lodge, staff and PH's went out of their way to make this an unbelievable experience. Africa is all it was made out to be. Again many many thanks for the experience and making me and my family feel at home from day one. We left not as clients but as friends. See you in the States. ps can’t wait for out trophies

Wow, what an awesome experience. The entire trip (13 days) at Grootpan was exciting and wonderful! From the moment we got off the plane, when Hein was there to meet us until Hein dropped us back at the airport, we felt extremely welcome and like we were part of the family.
The hunting was amazing! To be honest, I was a little nervous about the unknowns of the African bush, but Hein and the entire crew made me feel comfortable. I was ecstatic to get my Greater Kudu, Red Hartebeest and baboon!
The food was fantastic, I could not have asked for anything better.
I experienced things I never thought I would!
Yvette, Kaylin, Hein and everyone at Grootpan Safaris really did everything they could to make this dream of mine come true and make us feel so very welcome!
This was truly the BEST vacation/hunting experience I have ever had! And this is the most relaxed I think I have ever been.
I wish we could have stayed longer! I can not wait to go back.
Thank you to everyone at Grootpan!

Feel free to contact me with questions and information.

I TOOK MY SON AND DAUGHTER TO EACH HUNT A LIONESS WITH GROOTPAN HUNTING SAFARIS. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY WERE VERY NERVOUSE ABOUT THE IDEA. HEINRICH EXPLAINED THE HUNT AND CALMED THEIR NERVES. WE HUNTED AND SHOT BOTH LIONS ON FOOT ON THE THIRD DAY. THIS WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET. THANKS FOR A GREAT AND MEMORABLE HUNT.

I was looking for the right outfit to finish up my Big 7 when I met Heinrich at the Harrisburg show in 2009. This was my 4th trip to Africa (2nd to RSA and two prior to Zim) and in addition I have hunted extensively in Canada, the US West, Scotland and Alaska. Many of these hunts were great, however, there was a bummer or two along the way.

After discussions on various options, his style of hunting (spot & stalk) and checking references, I booked a lioness hunt with him, foregoing other "great offers" from other outfitters (like they say, "if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is"wink.gif

Heinrich personally made the hunt a success as outfitter and as one of my PHs (for lion you need two).

In addition to my lioness, I added a great male lion, plus shot an excellent Black Wildebeast (which will score top 10 SCI), Gemsbuck & Zebra, all under Heinrich's watchful eye. The hunting for lion is hard, on foot and generally not for the light of heart (ever try to spot & stalk a tan lion in thigh high tan grass?). However, if you want to do it the "right way" (which in my opinion is the "only way"wink.gif, then Grootpan is the way to go.

Along the way, in addition to a phenomonal hunting experience, I came to enjoy Henrich's comraderie and business philosophy. As evidence of thie experience, I have extended a standing offer to Heinrich to stay at our home the next time he comes to Harrisburg where I will arrange a cocktail reception with the local National Capital Chapter of SCI.

Any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 703.326.5610 or toenshoff@msrc.org.

Good Hunting

This was our 11th trip to Africa and once again the trip was awesome. It was our first hunt with Heinrich and we would definitely do it again with Grootpan Safaris. We hunted eight days and shot 15 animals from Lion to Genet. This was my second lion and seeing it stalk a family of warthog prior to shooting was an experience. If there is a specific animal you want Heinrich will put in the hours to get it but, remember it is hunting (we are still looking for a Civit). We had no idea how smart an ostrich is but finally got one in the salt. If somebody has any thoughts about hunting with Heinrich please call to put your mind at ease. Thanks Heinrich and hope to see you again in the near future. Phone Number 305 666 8583 Miami, Florida.

" I have hunted in a number of countries across the world and in Africa over the years, all enjoyable experiences. However, I find it is always a special experience to hunt in South Africa. Hunting with Heinrich and his team at Grootpan Safaris is amongst the best of these experiences. The logistics, from being met at the Airport, accommodation, meals, to being delivered back to the Airport at the end of the hunt was faultless, the hunting is spectacular, with a large number of species available and most importantly the hospitality is superb. You are immediately made to feel at home and comfortable and included in the activities of the families and friends of Grootpan Safaris. Heinrich is a very determined and experienced PH and an outstanding host. I had a wonderful experience and strongly recommend Grootpan Safaris to the novice and experienced hunter - you will have a great experience ! "

I had the privelege of hunting the Grootpan Game Ranch in the Limpopo region of South Africa during April and May of 2008. This was my first trip to Africa and I had no idea what to expect . From pickup at the airport to the last hunt on the last day everything was top notch . The staff was excellent , The food and Lodging were first rate . The quantity and variety of Game was stunning to Some one used to hunting the western United States. Hein and Steven the PH"S were proffessional in the very best sense of the word .and worked constantly to find me the right animal and the best shot. In short it was the best hunting experience of my life and ranks up there with the best times I have ever had .
Feel free to call or E mail me if you are thinking of Africa , Enjoy
